Applicant profile
This degree is aimed at students interested in sporting activities as practices that can serve the public, from both an educational perspective and that of promoting a healthy, social lifestyle, and in sport management and leadership.
A minimum level of physical fitness is required so that students can complete the teaching practice for the subjects in which they will be doing sporting activities in different mediums. Submission of a statement of compliance (see standard model and clarifications regarding the medical tests) stating that they meet the appropriate standards of physical fitness to carry out the sporting activities inherent in the Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science (CAFYD).
With regard to their knowledge, the course is accessible to students from any branch of Baccalaureate (pre-university) education, although the branches that include the subjects of biology, physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, anatomy and economics are recommended. English language proficiency is also important.
As for general skills, communication, teamwork, analytical, summarising and observational skills, the ability to adapt and initiative will be viewed positively.
Graduate profile
The graduate profile of the Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science is determined by the acquisition of all the general and specific skills described in the course plan for the degree. These include:
- Organisational abilities and planning skills in their work as Physical Activity and Sporting Activity professionals.
- Ability to learn to make decisions autonomously and in a well-founded manner about professional problems arising in the area of Physical and Sporting Activities.
- Ability to know and understand the physiological and biomechanical factors that affect physical and sporting activities.
- Ability to value the important role played by sport in the integral, physical and emotional development of individuals.
- Ability to understand the contribution made by sport in forming the non-competitive values of cooperation, collaboration and teamwork.
Career opportunities
Graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science (CAFYD) are able to work in a number of different areas, in some on an exclusive basis and in others, sharing their area and occupation with other professionals. In the careers in which they can work, there are two types of situation: regulated professions and unregulated professions (in some Autonomous Communities, all are regulated).
