Modules for the Master’s Degree and credits

All students who wish to do this Master’s Degree must:

• Possess the qualifications that enable them to access Master’s Degree courses.
  -Possess an official Spanish university Bachelor’s degree qualification or another issued by a higher education institution from the European Higher Education Area which qualifies them to access Master’s degree courses.
  -Be in possession of a Licenciatura (four- or five-year) Degree, a Degree in Architecture or an Engineering Degree pursuant to the university system in force prior to that established in Royal Decree RD 822/2021. If the student holds a Diplomatura (three-year) qualification, a Degree in Technical Architecture or a Degree in Technical Engineering, they can access the Master’s Degree programmes whose entry requirements so allow, although they may be required to pursue additional training which enables them to acquire the skills and knowledge specific to the Master’s Degree, which shall be evaluated in each particular case, if these circumstances should arise.
  -In the case of students with qualifications from countries outside the European Higher Education Area which have not been given official academic recognition, the interested party must apply to the Director for admission. Once the Director has received the due information from the Student Admissions Service, she will come to a decision. Entry through this route does not mean official recognition, academic or otherwise, of the previous degree qualification for any purposes other than those of pursuing the Master’s Degree
  -In the case of Bachelor’s degree students who have yet to complete their dissertation and a maximum of 9 ECTS, they may gain access to and enrol in the Master’s Degree although under no circumstances can they obtain the Master’s Degree qualification without first having obtained their Bachelor’s Degree (as laid down in Royal Decree RD 822/2021).
• Have a good record of academic attainment in the Bachelor’s Degree that is enabling them to access the Master’s Degree:
  -The average mark of the academic record for the degree or other official university qualification that is enabling them to access the Master’s Degree will be taken into account.
  -In addition, the previous curricula followed by the students will be examined in order to ensure, as far as possible, that once they have been admitted to the Master’s Degree programme, they will successfully complete the course of study.
• Have a personal interview during which aspects such as motivation, experience, vocation, future career ideas, etc. will be analysed.

In addition, the admission procedure requires the student to:
-Be admitted by the Director of University College Alberta Giménez (CESAG), assisted by the Student Admissions Service.
-Have applied for admission in compliance with the stipulated manner and deadlines, using the standard model and attaching all the documents that substantiate fulfilment of the entry requirements-
-Successfully pass a personal interview with a member of the Student Admissions Service which will explore the student’s motivation for choosing the programme and include a review and discussion of the applicant’s academic record. Account will also be taken of any indicative personal aspects to assess their fitness for the programme the applicant is requesting. The information gathered by each interviewer is recorded in a formalised admission interview registration template; it is then given to the person responsible for admission, who may request the teacher who conducted the interview to provide any supplementary information that is deemed appropriate.
-When applicants wish to pursue a specialism which differs from their prior learning, they must complete a supplementary exam so as to ensure they possess the skills required for the specialism they are applying for. This exam is described later.
-The provisions of the corresponding legislation of Spanish Data Protection Act 15/1999 are applied to the management of the data generated during the admission process.

University College Alberta Giménez (CESAG) graduates and students
When the required conditions (which have just been described) have been met, priority will be given in the admission process to applicants who are University College Alberta Giménez (CESAG) graduates. Applicants who are University College Alberta Giménez (CESAG) students and have still to successfully complete a maximum of 9 credits and the dissertation for their Bachelor’s degree will also be taken into account, provided that there are places available for the specialism they are requesting.

Admissions of students with disabilities
When students who are interested in attending University College Alberta Giménez (CESAG), affiliated with Comillas Pontifical University, have any type of disability, they can receive personalised information and support through the Support Service. Via this service, they can request the entrance examinations to be adapted, explaining their needs for the admission procedures. Once they have been admitted, students with disabilities will receive personalised assistance through coordinated action by the Master’s programme coordination bodies, the teaching staff and the Support Service.

Entrance examinations
Skills related to the specialism:
Section 2.4. of Order 3858/2007, of 27 December, of the Ministry of Education and Science, states that it will be necessary to provide accreditation of mastery of the skills relating to the specialism that the student wishes to study, by means of the completion of an examination designed for the purpose by the universities and that any students who possess any of the university qualifications that correspond with the chosen specialism will be exempted from this requirement.

In order to provide accreditation of the knowledge required in each specialism, as stated in the order, the University will carry out the following procedures:
1. Students who come from the specialism in which they wish to do the Master’s Degree : after verifying their academic background and that these match the requested specialism, they will be exempted from doing the knowledge test referred to in the aforementioned Order. In order to determine which candidates will be exempted from doing the test to accredit their mastery of the skills relating to the specialism they wish to pursue, the procedure will follow Royal Decree 860/2010, of 2 July, which regulates the initial educational conditions of teachers in private institutions in order to teach compulsory secondary and pre-university education, as well as the resolutions in force from the General Directorate of Teaching Staff of the regional government’s educational authority which specify the qualifications required to enable those who are part of the body of secondary and pre-university education teachers to work as teachers. In these cases, the candidate’s application will be forwarded to the Student Admissions Service for assessment alongside the rest of their merits and their personal interview; the service will come to a decision on whether to admit the candidate, taking into account the places available on the Master’s Degree programme and/or on the requested specialism.
2. Students who come from Bachelor’s or five-year degrees specialising in areas other than the specialism they wish to pursue in the Master’s Degree (This will be the situation of those courses of study which do not appear in the legislation specified in the previous section related to each of the specialisms) They will have to pass a test in which they demonstrate their proficiency in the subjects that correspond to the specialism requested for secondary and pre-university education. The test will be created by the teachers for that specialism on the Master’s Degree programme in view of the curriculum for the specialism in secondary and pre-university education. Once this test has been successfully passed, the candidate’s application will be forwarded to the Student Admissions Service for assessment alongside the rest of their merits and their personal interview; the service will come to a decision on whether to admit the candidate, taking into account the places available on the Master’s Degree programme and/or on the requested specialism.

Foreign language
With regard to prior proficiency in a foreign language by all students who wish to take part in the Master’s Degree programme for Teaching Compulsory Secondary and Pre-University Education (Section 4.2 of the governing Order), the Language Department will design an ad hoc test through which it can be verified that the candidate holds the stated B1 level in English. All those who submit a certificate that is less than three years old certifying this or a greater level of knowledge of the chosen language, candidates from initial philological studies of the chosen language or those whose initial education accounted for at least 30 ECTS of content in the chosen language.

The Official Master’s Degree in Teaching Compulsory Secondary and Pre-university Education opens up access to doctorate-level courses of study according to the regulations in force and enables graduates to work as a teacher at obligatory secondary and pre-university education, vocational training and language learning level, with it becoming an essential requirement as of 2009-2010 for being able to teach those two educational levels.

Applicant profile
Our Master’s Degree in teacher training is aimed at graduates holding a Bachelor’s Degree, a Licenciatura (four or five-year) Degree, Diplomatura (three-year) qualification, Engineering Degree or a Degree in Technical Engineering who wish to teach at the level of Compulsory Secondary and Pre-university Education, for whom it is an essential requirement in order to become a teacher at these educational stages.
The goal of this Master’s degree is to complete their first degree-level education with those subjects specifically for the teaching profession. To this end, a solid grounding will be given in psychology of adolescence, didactics, educational methodology and organisation, all within an environment of collaboration and working as part of a teaching team.

Graduate profile
Students who complete the Master’s Degree in Teaching Compulsory Secondary and Pre-university Education are professionals with a sound education that combines psycho-pedagogical, educational, methodological and technological knowledge with a motivating teaching style that enables both comprehensive attention for students at compulsory secondary and pre-university, vocational training and official language school level and teamwork as part of a teaching team, plus tutoring on an individual and family basis, meeting the requirements for secondary school-level teachers. This profile has been analysed by the various monitoring committees for the Master’s Degree programme.

Regulated profession
The Master’s Degree is a prerequisite but is not sufficient in itself to teach compulsory secondary and pre-university education, as it is a regulated profession. In state establishments, teachers are required to have passed the corresponding competitive examination. In semi-private and private establishments, the requirements are set out in Royal Decree 860/2010, of 2 July, and Royal Decree 665/2015, of 17 July, which regulates the initial academic conditions for teaching staff in private establishments that entitle them to teach at compulsory secondary and pre-university education level (Spanish Official State Gazette –BOE- of 17 July 2010). Vocational training and special education systems are also governed by other, specific legislation. In the particular case of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands, teachers are also required to possess a qualification that accredits their proficiency in the Catalan language as specified in Article 2 of Decree 115/2001, of 14 September.

Formalisation of enrolment

• You must access the link “Online enrolment” and then you must provide your username (academic code) and password, and then provide the information the system requests from you at each stage.
• Payment (1)of the enrolment cost amount must be made by means of:
  a single card payment (POS terminal), made directly when enrolling online.
  When you make the payment by card, your enrolment will be automatically submitted online. To confirm its submission, you must provide the unique code that will have been sent to your mobile telephone number (the mobile telephone number you indicated when requesting admission).
• Submit and sign the enrolment. In general, submission and signing of enrolment must be carried out online, by following the instructions of the University’s online enrolment system.
• Payment of the amount for enrolment does not mean it has been submitted online, therefore it is essential to perform this final step in the process so that it is properly formalised in the Secretary’s Office.

(1) Payment of the enrolment amount consolidates the student’s entitlement to a place on the corresponding programme. The subsequent cancelation of enrolment does not give any entitlement to a refund of this amount except in the cases specified in article 89.3 e) of the University’s General Regulations

The price of the Master’s Degree is €3,780 (+degree certificate issuance fees and university fees)

Payment for the Master’s Degree is carried out based on the same degree fee structure for University College Alberta Giménez (CESAG), which includes:

1. Enrolment payment. To be carried out from 4 to 10 September 2023.
2. Initial tuition fee. Includes the payment of university fees. It is paid at the same time as the enrolment payment.
3. Monthly instalment. Payment of the rest of the tuition fees, in monthly instalments, distributed thus:

Students in the second edition: eight monthly instalments, from November 2023 to June 2024.
Students in the first edition: four monthly instalments, from November 2023 to February 2024.

Payment method enrolment and initial tuition fee: POS terminal. Single payment by card.
Payment method monthly instalments: direct debit (possibility of financing through SeQura)
