What is a university specialism?

Universities have the option of completing the title of their degree qualifications by including references to the specialisation pathways in their own curriculum, with optional subjects that are grouped into specialisms.

In the Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science (CAFYD), in the fourth academic year, the available specialisms are the following:

Specialism in Physical Exercise and Health

It offers students training based on studying the relationships between physical exercise, health and quality of life. The aim is for them to gain the necessary technical and practical knowledge to make physical exercise a healthy practice that affects personal and social wellbeing, including segments of the population with special characteristics, and to prevent the risks deriving from physical exercise when it is undertaken in unsuitable conditions.

This specialism consists of 30 ECTS credits.

Specialism in Teaching Physical Exercise and Sport (inactive)

It aims to train students in the area of teaching physical exercise and sport so that they acquire the main technical and practical knowledge needed to plan and develop the motor learning processes inherent in the physical exercise-sport in appropriate conditions and to provide them with an educational dimension.

This specialism consists of 30 ECTS credits.

It aims to introduce students to the field of management and recreational sports, delivering the knowledge and abilities that will enable them to analyse the demands of recreational sport and participate in processes for planning and evaluating sports equipment and facilities, and for organising, developing and assessing sporting events.

This specialism consists of 30 ECTS credits.
